ABOUT US

Part digital marketing firm, part design studio, and part business development guide - we’ve been helping farm, food, and nonprofit clients reach their revenue goals for over 15 years.
Whether it's building a values-based brand through visual and narrative storytelling, building out new sales channels, onboarding to e-commerce platforms, creating customer journey email workflows, launching online advertising, nurturing functional teams, refining bookkeeping and accounting practices, or securing financial resources through events and grants, our Principal, Suzanne Hogan, leverages her diverse experience and network to get her clients to their goals.

OUR SERVICES

Farm to Fork Works takes a 360-degree view of the financial health and organizational viability of food enterprises - then helps producers and artisans craft a brand, market, and growth strategy to reach their goals. Our team is focused on walking alongside our clients as they build results-based systems that pinpoint their path, move them along it, and measure their progress.

Business Development Services we provide include:

ARE WE FOR YOU?

Farm to Fork Works is the partner farmers and food artisans are looking for when they're ready to move 'off the farm and onto the plate'. Our ideal partner is committed to unique, sustainably-produced foods that nourish the body while stewarding the planet - a better planet - one tasty plate at a time.

Our clients have typically been in operation with at least a year of sales, and are ready to expand their markets, increase sales, and improve profitability. They may be ready to sell at more farmers markets, start online selling with market pick up or home delivery, or go from home delivery to shipping or retail sales.

WHY US?

We're dedicated to helping farmers and food artisans reach their growth and revenue goals. In order to stay an affordable option for new, as well as mature, businesses we use a sliding scale approach to fees.
Young businesses in start-up mode can choose from an ala carte menu of services for a set fee, while seasoned sellers ready to scale up can choose longer-term strategy and sales channel development options.
Regardless of size, producers ready to reach new customers, build functioning teams, or expand distribution channels will find us a competitive, strategic marketing partner.
While some clients work with us on a single project (like building their e-commerce site) - most of our clients come to think of us as an extension of their leadership team - but a team member they only have to pay when the task at hand needs our expertise!

NOW YOU UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS. LET’S GET YOU STARTED.

OUR TEAM

Suzanne has been working with small to midsize farmers and food artisans to grow Maryland's local food economy for over a decade. Her commitment to the sector was forged through years of conservation advocacy on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, which shaped her belief that sustainable farm enterprises and food brands are a triple-bottom line opportunity for rural communities.

Her early food system work was alongside Kim Wagner, of Black Bottom Farm and the Black Bottom Farm Collective, and Diane Bedlin, Market Manager for the Kent Island Farmer's Market as they sought to secure federal dollars for a regional food hub in Queen Anne's and Kent counties.

As Covid began disrupting nationwide food supply chains, Suzanne joined Kim full-time as Business Development Manager for Black Bottom Farm Collective. Working together, they grew the local and nutrient-dense, aggregation and home delivery service by nearly 200% in 6 months - positioning the collective for outside acquisition and investment.

In 2021, Suzanne completed the University of Vermont Food Hub Management certification program, founded Farm to Fork Works, and began working as a Business Development consultant with clients around the state of Maryland. She and her family also bought Bramble Brooke Farm, in Northern Carroll County, that year, where they’re developing their own Value-Added business.
In 2023, her son Conor, a Communications major at University of Maryland, and an aspiring chef, joined her to provide sales, marketing, and bookkeeping support to clients. Together, they’ve manned food shows up and down the Mid-Atlantic, pitching delicious client products from the kitchen door to the convention hall.

Prior to starting Farm to Fork Works, Suzanne served as a Director-level lead for numerous nonprofits in the conservation, environmental, and positive youth development sectors. She's a former Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Chaired one of Maryland's only successful Petition Committees, winning a county-wide Referendum to limit residential growth in 2012.

She holds a Certificate in Food Hub Management (University of Vermont), a Master's in Health Communication (Emerson-Tufts Program in Health Communication), a Bachelor's in Environmental Biology (McDaniel College), and is an Emerge Maryland alumni.

OUR FARM

After 40 years of Eastern Shore living, Suzanne and her family moved to a 20-acre farm in rural Carroll County in 2021. After a year of watching where the sun shone and the water rolled, she and her family named their little patch 'Bramble Brooke Farm' and are currently developing a Value-Added Product business plan that capitalizes on the bounty of the brambles and berries that grow so well there.
